Jasa Merin Malaysia has conducted an event entitled 5S Day, which practices the usage of a five-step methodology for creating a more organized and productive workspace: Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain. Implementing 5S Kaizen leads to a reduction of lost or damaged items in a workplace. A clean, organized workstation with properly labelled tools enables employees to decide on what needs to be replaced and repaired in their designated places; this minimizes the number of damaged, misplaced or lost tools. We recycled a total of 680 kg worth of items including cardboard, paper and metal. We hope that the event will encourage our employees to keep recycling and maintaining the 5S principles.
